The National Agency for the Control of AIDS, NACA, says the 95-95-95 mandated target of global HIV/AIDS eradication in 2030 is achievable in Nigeria if vulnerable population groups are empowered.
Zonal coordinator of NACA North-West zone, Ade Yusuf, gave the assurance during a four-day HIV/AIDS counselling and empowerment programme for women and young girls in the North-West zone.

While there are indications that women and young girls are more at risk of contracting HIV, the newly developed HIV/AIDS guidelines identify economic empowerment as one of the strategies for mitigating its risk among vulnerable populations.
The programme by NACA, therefore, is to support women and young girls using skills acquisitions as measures for preventing HIV/AIDS.
The zonal coordinator, NACA Northwest zone, Ade Yusuf, insists that counselling the vulnerable groups is critical considering the push to eliminate the disease globally by 2030.
A total of 150 women and girls were trained in hair making, cake baking and facial makeup.
