Votes collation for senate and Federal House of Representatives in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District of Akwa Ibom State came to a close Monday and the former minister for Niger Delta Affairs, Sen. Godswill Akpabio of the All Progressives Congress, APC, emerged the winner.
After about 30 hours of waiting at Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District collation center, the National Assembly Election results for the Senatorial District was announced
Sen Godswill Akpabio of the All Progressives Congress polled One Hundred and Fifteen Thousand, Four Hundred One (115,401)votes to defeat his closest rival Emmanuel Enoidem of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, with Sixty Nine Thousand, Eight Hundred and Thirty-Eight (69,838) votes.

The returning officer, Prof Anthony Udoh announced the result at about 6:00 am
Sen. Akpabio who was on the ground alongside others expressed his joy at the outcome of the Poll. He appreciated the electorates for believing in him.
Meanwhile, supporters took to the streets of Ikot Ekpene in jubilation at the victory of their preferred candidate.
