The Gombe State Agency for the Control and Prevention of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus HIV and Acquired Immunodeficiency Virus AIDS, GOMSACA, has expressed concern over the increasing rate of transmission of the virus in the state as some of the girls arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) tested positive.
According to the community mobilisation officer with the agency, Muhammad Aliyu, Six out of forty-eight girls arrested tested positive.
Officials of the NSCDC are arresting more suspects in what the agency refers to as immoral acts at a place known as Gala.

There are concerns about the spread of the HIV/AIDS among the girls, as tests show a growing percentage of the girls are infected with the virus.
Also, the Association of Private Guard Companies is cooperating with the civil defence in tackling youth restiveness and crime in the state.
The civil defence hopes such collaboration will help reduce the rate of crime and criminality in the state to the barest minimum.
