The Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri has called on Nigerians to shun ethnic tendencies and embrace peace as the nation again reflects on the dedication and commitment of fallen Heros who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
Governor Douye Diri spoke at the Emblem and Appeal launch of the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Yenagoa.
The Governor who on behalf of the state Government made a donation of ten million naira, says the investment is to encourage the military to carry out their duties effectively.
Governor Diri also reviewed the overhead for Legionnaires in the state from N500 thousand to one million naira monthly and also directed that all political appointees must be part of this year’s donation to support the fallen Heros and their families.
The Governor and other dignitaries were decorated at the event.
The Armed Forces remembrance day is commemorated annually on January 15th across the country.
