Governor Umo Eno says the implementation of the Treasury Single Account, TSA, will significantly boost revenue growth and strengthen transparency across Ministries, Departments and Agencies in Akwa Ibom State, South-South Nigeria.

The Governor made this known during an engagement with revenue officers and key stakeholders at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital.

At the meeting, Governor Eno described the TSA as a strategic financial reform designed to eliminate leakages, enhance accountability, and provide accurate data for planning and development.

He expressed concern over the existing revenue collection framework, criticising the practice where some MDAs spend revenues they generate while still receiving monthly imprest from government.

The Governor revealed that ongoing digital reforms have already yielded results, uncovering over 2,000 unaccredited workers in the State Civil Service through a verification exercise driven by the Ministry of Science and Digital Economy.

He explained that under the new TSA regime, collection costs and operational funds will be processed through an automated system to ensure standardisation and prevent abuse.

Commissioner for Finance, Emem Bob, described the TSA as a landmark public financial management reform. He commended the Governor for clearing inherited commercial bank debts of nearly forty billion naira and paying about eighty billion naira in gratuity arrears.

The event featured a detailed presentation of the State’s digital remittance platform, AkwaRemit, outlining operational guidelines under the TSA framework.

With the TSA rollout, the Akwa Ibom State Government says it is laying a firm foundation for transparency, accountability and sustainable revenue growth.
