The Nigerian Army has been commended for putting measures in place to enhance civil-military relations, through impactful projects, to benefit communities in the country.
Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas was speaking at the commissioning of two special intervention projects by the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The projects were initiated as part of the Chief of Army Staff’s special civil-military intervention in the communities for officers that have attained the rank of Major General in the Nigerian Army.
The projects were at the instance of Major General Boniface Sinjein, Chief of Operations of the Nigerian Army, and Major General Henry Wesley, Chief of Special Services and Programmes, both of whom hail from the host community.
The projects were commissioned by Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, who noted that there are over 200 such projects across the six geopolitical zones of the country.
The Chief of Army Staff also added that the military is not out to compete with the government but to complement its efforts.
Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas, an ex-serviceman himself, said the initiative would foster the relationship between the military and civilians and tasked the community with maintaining the projects.
Governor Kefas gave the assurance that he will make the army proud during his tenure in office.
Governor Agbu Kefas and the Chief of Army Staff were gifted traditional war weapons by the host community.
