Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal has appealed to the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, for an increased troops deployment in the State.
On Monday, the Governor had paid a visit to the Chief of Defence Staff, General Musa, at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
A statement by the Governor’s spokesman, Sulaiman Idris, disclosed that Governor Lawal met with the Defence Chief to discuss the security situation in Zamfara State.
During the meeting, the Governor expressed concerns over the resurgence of attacks in some parts of Zamfara and appealed for the deployment of more troops and necessary weapons.
He observed that farmers are unable to access their farms, lamenting that the continuous assaults have claimed numerous lives.
The statement quotes the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa as saying, “I want to express my appreciation for your efforts in combating insecurity. We plan to adjust and reposition resources, using the same approach as Maiduguri.”
