Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has flagged off the distribution of palliatives to residents in the state.
He said the food items are meant for all Zamfara residents in need, regardless of their political affiliation
The governor, who performed the symbolic ceremony, tasked the committee responsible for distributing the palliatives to be fair and just to all to ensure the objective of cushioning the effect of the removal of fuel subsidy is achieved.

He explained that Zamfara State received N2 billion from its palliatives allocation, as well as 11,877 bags of 50-kilogramme rice and 2,834 bags of 25-kilogramme rice for distribution across the local government areas for the first phase, adding that the second batch of the Federal Government’s food palliatives distribution will commence as soon as the delivery is received.
Governor Lawal said Zamfara state is expected to receive 14,516 more bags of 50kg of rice, and 3,200 metric tonnes of maize for distribution to all polling units across the state.
He said the state government will also contribute to the ongoing palliative , disclosing that 50 HiAce 18-seater buses will also be made available to facilitate inter-and intra-state transportation, at relatively low costs.
