Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, Thursday flagged off the construction of three key projects including the reconstruction and rehabilitation of 71 urban roads in the state, capital Enugu.
The 40 kilometres Owo – Ubahu – Amankanu – Isiuzo road as well as the New Enugu city are the other two projects whose flag off were performed by Governor Mbah.
At a symbolic project kick-off event at the Premiere Layout road construction site for the 70 other urban road projects, Governor Mbah told the excited crowd of residents that more is yet to come.
The 71 urban roads construction and reconstruction projects totaling over 150 kilometres is expected to be completed by December 2023.
The flag-off for the construction of the New Enugu Smart City by Governor Mbah received cheers from the jubilant crowd who had turned out to witness the event.
The governor described the event as momentous, saying it is in fulfillment of his campaign promises, as Enugu State is going to be a premiere destination for investment, business and tourism.

He reassured the people of the state that he would restore Enugu State to her preeminent position as a regional capital.
Also, the flag-off of the construction of the 40-kilometer Owo – Ubahu – Amankanu – Isiuzo road marks the opening up of the North Central Corridor, which, with the coming of the New Enugu city will connect with the other south-east and South-south states of the country.
Governor Mbah pointed out that all the projects under the first phase of the infrastructure development plans are deliberate and connected together, aimed at making Enugu State an industrial and investment hub.
