Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for adhering to the tenets of democracy by ensuring that free, fair, and credible election was made possible in the state in the just concluded governorship election.
Governor Obaseki made the commendation at a programme organised to celebrate Nigeria at 60, tagged “Together” which held in Benin City, the state capital.
On October 1, 1960, Nigeria gained independence and it has been a long journey for the nation. Sixty years down the line, Nigerians have expressed mixed feelings about the progress made so far.
Many are of the opinion that there is not much worth celebrating. However, the Edo State Government led by Governor Obaseki believes that there is hope for the future regardless of the current challenges.

Governor Obaseki and the Chairman, Edo State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Bishop Orinamen Oyonude Kure, commended the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for standing firmly by the ideals of democracy especially in the conduct of a credible election in the state.
