The Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, has declared that his administration will continue to support the Navy in protecting the country’s maritime domain and securing critical oil and gas infrastructure.
The Governor who also described the Nigerian Navy as indispensable to national stability and economic growth, was speaking when he received the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, on a courtesy visit at the Government House, Asaba.
The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Abbas, who assumed office on October 30, 2025, was on a working visit to formations in Delta State.
Accompanied by other senior officers, the Naval Chief first made a brief stop over at the Navy Base in Warri, before proceeding to the Government House, Asaba to meet the State Governor in an effort to explore ways of further strengthening existing relationship between the Navy and the Delta State government.

Welcoming his guests, Governor Oborevwori, said the visit demonstrated the Navy’s commitment to strengthening security across the Niger Delta region, particularly in Delta State – one of Nigeria’s oil producing hubs.
The Governor assured the Nigerian Chief of Naval Staff of his administration’s support and cooperation to enhance security around oil installations and coastal communities.
Security analysts believe that the visit will deepen cooperation for the security of Delta State and the nation’s maritime domain.
