Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo says his administration remains committed to clearing all criminal enclaves across the state.
The Governor gave the assurance when he visited Bagaji-Odo, Agojeju-Ododo and Bagana communities where suspected herdsmen have been terrorizing inhabitants of the areas.
The crisis in Bagaji-Odo, Agojeju-Ododo and Bagana communities all in Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State has lasted for over four decades.
In January, four people were reportedly killed by suspected herdsmen in Agojeju-Ododo community. A similar incident occurred in the same community in April 2024 with about 20 persons killed in suspected herdsmen attack.
Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo, during a visit to the community expressed worries over what he described as senseless killings and destruction of property in the area.
He however promised to restore peace in the affected communities while promising that all those behind the attacks will be made to face the laws of the land.
The caretaker chairman of Omala local government, Mark Edibo, said that the conflict over control of natural resources has mainly been responsible for the wanton destruction of property and avoidable deaths.
