Available government records show that about 1,000 households in Imo State have benefited from the Zero Hunger Agricultural Empowerment Programme held in Owerri, the state capital.
The initiative is aimed at supporting households with agricultural inputs and encouraging local food production as part of efforts to address food insecurity.
Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, at an event, urged residents to embrace household farming and food production as part of efforts to reduce hunger and strengthen food security in the state.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals, Chinenyenwa Owualam, commended the initiative, saying it would contribute to food security while strengthening the resilience of households across the State.

The high point of the event was the symbolic presentation of seedlings to some beneficiaries by Governor Uzodimma.
The beneficiaries are expected to cultivate the seedlings as part of efforts to boost household food production.
