Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has unveiled a comprehensive Cocoa farming revival agenda as a catalyst to boosting agricultural production in the State.
Speaking at the International Cocoa Conference in Lagos on Thursday, Governor Adeleke who was represented by the Osun State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Gbola Faseru described the importance of cocoa to the diversification of Nigerian economy, recalling how the late Obafemi Awolowo developed the old Western region of Nigeria with earnings from Cocoa production.
Unveiling the comprehensive agenda of his administration to revitalize Cocoa production in the State, Governor Adeleke said Cocoa producing States have a direct challenge and obligation to introduce new innovations that will help to revive the sector and increase productivity level of Cocoa farmers.
The Governor further disclosed that his administration will assemble stakeholders to design an updated revival plan for the revitalisation of the Cocoa sub sector in Osun State.
The Governor said his administration will strive to emulate the giant strides of the late Obafemi Awolowo in Cocoa production.
