Cross River State Governor, Professor Ben Ayade, Tuesday sworn-in Justice Maurice Eneji as the Acting Chief Judge of the State.
Justice Eneji was sworn in barely 3 months after the tenure of the immediate past Acting Chief Judge, Justice Akon Ikpeme expired.
Ayade while congratulating the new Acting Chief Judge on his appointment advised him to strengthen the judiciary under his leadership.

The Governor urged Justice Eneji to be courageous in his dispensation of justice in line with tenets of the law, saying 3 months will determine if he has the capacity to be a substantive Chief Judge of Cross River State or not.
On his part, the new Acting Chief Judge, Justice Maurice Eneji said he will work under the provision of the laws and be guided by the Constitution.
Two Acting Chief Judges of Cross River State have been sworn-in in less than four months by Governor Ben Ayade.
This according to the government was as a result of the rejection of Justice Akon Ikpeme’s confirmation as substantive Chief Judge by the State House of Assembly.
