Taraba State Government has commended the Federal Government for launching the digitalized mode of payment in its National Social Investment Programme, saying it will promote transparency and efficiency in the process.

Governor Darius Ishaku said the state government has also replicated a similar initiative, to support the poor and vulnerable,  pledging support to the Federal Government’s Social Investment Programme in the state.

To discourage the diversion of funds obtained from the Social Investment Programme by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, and Social Development,  the digitalized mode of payment was launched in this phase of intervention in the state.

The intervention was flagged off by the Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku.

The Governor said the National Social Investment Programme in the state has benefited thousands of Taraba people, saying it is a consolidation of its home-based effort to lift the poor out of economic hardship.

The governor was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Anthony Jellason.

The National Coordinator of the Social Investment Programme, Umar Bindiri, cautioned beneficiaries on the diversion of monies and items received.

He said a monitoring system has been put in place to ensure compliance.

The flagg-off phase of the Social Investment Programme in Taraba State targets the physically challenged, internally displaced persons, skills acquisitors, and the vulnerable, mostly from the rural communities.
