Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has frowned at the situation where people see appointments into public offices as compensation for political patronage or ticket for personal enrichment.
Governor Wike, who on Wednesday, sworn-in nine new commissioners into his cabinet, said that public office holders in Nigeria must at all times use the opportunity given to them to serve the people well and help build a better society.

The swearing-in of the nine commissioners came a day after the Governor sworn-in 17 new permanent secretaries into the Rivers State Civil Service.
Six out of the nine commissioners staged a comeback including Boma Iyaye, Damiete Herbert Miller, Tonye Oniyide, Dr. Tamunosisi Gogo-Jaja, Emeka Onowu, and Professor Princewill Chike, who were all in the Governor’s cabinet during his first term in office
Eloka Tasie Amadi, Igbiks Tamuno, and Ohia Prince are the new faces.
The Governor wants them to key into his vision of building a united and prosperous Rivers State.
With the ceremony done with, the Rivers State Executive Council then proceeded to hold its weekly meeting.
