Ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has constituted its Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the January 16, 2027 presidential election, with President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima named Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively.

According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Saturday, APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, will serve as another Vice Chairman, while former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, is appointed Director-General of the campaign.

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State will serve as Secretary, with APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, and Hadiza Bala-Usman appointed Deputy and Assistant Secretaries respectively.

The campaign council will also have an advisory body comprising Chief Bisi Akande, Chief Segun Osoba, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Florence Ita Giwa.

President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio, House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni have been assigned as Deputy Director-Generals for the southern and northern parts of the country, working alongside Senator Opeyemi Bamidele and Senator Jibril Barau.

Senator Adams Oshiomhole will oversee mobilisation as Deputy Director-General, while the President’s Chief of Staff will serve as Deputy Director-General for Administration.

James Abiodun Faleke, who played a key role in the 2022/2023 presidential campaign, returns as Deputy Director-General for Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring.

The council also names zonal directors for the six geopolitical zones, while Muiz Adeyemi Banire is appointed Director of the Legal Directorate.

For media and strategic communication, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, will serve as Coordinating Director, alongside Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu.

Dele Alake will lead the team of five presidential campaign spokespersons, with Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda serving as other spokespersons.

The campaign’s New Media Directorate will be headed by Segun Dada as Director, with Solomon Arowolo serving as Secretary.

President Tinubu has charged members of the council to work tirelessly towards securing victory for the APC in the January 2027 elections.

The President also urged leaders of the various directorates to reach out to other party members who may not have been formally listed, encouraging them to contribute to the campaign.

He said the administration had delivered on its campaign promises and placed Nigeria on the path of economic progress, urging the campaign team to highlight the government’s achievements and inspire hope among Nigerians.

President Tinubu further called on the party to defeat what he described as forces seeking to take the country backwards.
