Bayelsa State has set the pace for football development in Nigeria as it becomes the first state in the federation to facilitate the Nigeria Football Federation NFF D-License certification specifically for grassroots coaches.

Technical Director of the NFF, Augustine Eguavoen, confirms the milestone in Yenagoa during the closing ceremony of a four-day intensive training programme designed to launch the professional careers of local football tacticians.

The four-day programme provided rigorous training for coaches drawn from all eight local government areas of Bayelsa State.

The initiative is fully funded by the Bayelsa State Government in strategic partnership with the Nigeria Football Federation, aimed at strengthening grassroots football development.

Addressing participants at the end of the exercise, NFF Technical Director Augustine Eguavoen describes the certification as a foundational step towards building a strong football structure from the grassroots level.

Key stakeholders and participating coaches also share insights on how the training will transform football development in communities across the state.

With the NFF D-License secured, the next milestone for the coaches will be the CAF C-License certification, expected to further expand their technical knowledge and improve the standard of football in Bayelsa State.
