To address this challenge and replace lost trees in the FCT, the Nigerian government has rolled out plans to plant 1000 trees in the city before the 2024 World Environment Day on June 5.

The symbolic planting of trees at the City Gate Abuja by the Minister of the FCT represented by his Senior special Assistant on Environment, Fred Kpakol, the mandate Secretary, health and Environmental Services, Dolapo Fasawe as well as the Irish Ambassador to Nigeria, Peter Ryan.

The exercise is part of activities to boost greenery in The FCT to improve air quality and also Commemorate the year 2024 Irish national day.

The FCT Minister says the exercise is in line with President Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda and will be sustained throughout the city.

The government plans to plant about 1000 trees before June 5 celebration of the world environment day and urges citizens to join hands in this greening drive, to improve the quality of life and also protect the environment.
