Nigerians and hundreds of gamers from far and wide who are at the Times Square in New York City, United States have continued to cheer Nigerian Chess enthusiast and coach, Tunde Onakoya who hit the time mark of 58 hours Chess-A- Thon on Friday, April 19th 2024 at 8:30pm EST.
Though the Chess master looked exhausted by the time he hit the time mark but decided to play on as supporters chant him to victory “Go Tunde, Go Tunde Go!”.
Tunde and his U.S counterpart, Shawn Martinez who kicked off the board game marathon at 10:30am Eastern Standard Time Wednesday, April 17 at the Times Square in New York City, United States attempted to break the Guinness World Record for the longest Chess Marathon.
The 58 hours Chess-A-Thon Guinness World Records challenge is to raise funds to the tune of $1 million dollars to support children in underprivileged communities across Africa with access to education.
