The District Head of Panyam, in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, North-Central Nigeria, HRH Adamu Derwam, has been abducted by heavily armed men.
The paramount ruler was abducted at his residence in Panyam town in the early hours of Monday.
A brother to the District Head who is also a journalist, Friday Derwam while confirming the incident to ait.live in Jos, the state capital said the gunmen stormed the palace at about 1:35am and began shooting sporadically before taken the victim to an unknown destination.
The Plateau State Police Command through its spokesperson, DSP Alfredo Alabo, confirmed the incident and deployment of combined tactical team of Police, Army, vigilante and hunters to the area, for possible rescue of the traditional ruler.

The abduction of the District Head of Panyam makes it the fifth time a traditional ruler will be abducted in Plateau State within the last six months.
