Gunmen have reportedly abducted another Catholic priest, Reverend Father James Kantonma , who is the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN in Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau State in North-Central Nigeria.
Father Kantoma, who is also the Catholic Priest of St. Anthony’s Church, Angware was abducted in the early hours on Monday at his residence.
According to an eye witness, Moses Agwom, said the gunmen who were suspected to be armed herdsmen stormed the community at about 1am and began shooting sporadically and headed straight to the St. Anthony Parish House where Father Kantonma lives and abducted him.
Confirming the development to AIT, the CAN Chairman in Plateau Northern Zone, Reverend Nenman Gowan said community members made efforts to stop the abductors from taking the priest away were but were unsuccessful because the terrorists came prepared and immediately they noticed resistance, they started shooting sporadically for several minutes before eventually taking him away.
As at the time of filing this report, family and community members said they are yet to hear from the abductors.
