Suspected gunmen have abducted six students of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, NSUK, following an attack on a students’ lodge in Gudi, Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
The students, all from the Faculty of Engineering, Gudi Campus, were reportedly abducted on Wednesday night after armed hoodlums stormed their off-campus residence at Angwan Ninzo on the outskirts of Gudi.
One additional victim, believed to be a visitor at the lodge, was also reportedly abducted during the attack.
The police which confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday, said the attack occurred at about 9:00 p.m. on May 6, 2026.
State Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, visited the scene for an on-the-spot assessment and reassured students, residents, and the university community that efforts were ongoing to secure the safe rescue of the victims.
According to the police, a joint security team comprising personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, DSS, military, NSCDC, vigilante groups, and other tactical units had been deployed to intensify rescue operations and track down the abductors.
The Command appealed to members of the public to remain calm and provide useful information that could assist ongoing investigations and rescue efforts.
