The Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of three students of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) by unidentified gunmen.
The students were reportedly abducted from their off-campus lodge on Tuesday night at about 9:20 p.m., according to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel in a statement.
Nansel revealed that the university’s Chief Security Officer reported the incident, prompting a swift response by the police and a coordinated search of the surrounding forest.
He said the prompt intervention by security operatives led to the successful rescue of one of the abducted students.
He noted that intensive efforts are ongoing to secure the safe rescue of the remaining 2 victims, in line with the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed.
The incident comes barely two months after six engineering students of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, were abducted from their off-campus lodge in Gudi, Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
