Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted five persons in Ishiagu, Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, South East Nigeria.
The incident reportedly took place Tuesday evening, though details remain sketchy and even varying.
One account says the victims, three of whom are members of a family, and the cab driver who was conveying them home from the Enugu International Airport, were abducted along the ever-busy Mile 2 axis of the Ishiagu – Okigwe highway, while the fifth victim was snatched from his farm as the kidnappers made their ways into the tick forest.

When contacted, the spokesperson of the Police in Ebonyi State, SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the abduction, but did not give details, saying she was yet to be briefed.
The incident comes a few months after women of the community staged a protest which later turned violent, against the continued abduction of residents and travelers within the area by gunmen.
The area has in recent times become a hotbed for kidnappers, as no fewer than 20 persons have reportedly been either abducted or killed in the last four months, including an INEC official who was shot dead and his wife abducted while traveling along the axis some two months ago.
