Hundreds of organized labour union workers in Ebonyi state, marched in Abakaliki the state capital, demanding the reversal of what they term anti-poor policies of the present government.
The protesters took off from the Abakaliki township stadium at about 9 o clock in the morning, with placards of various inscriptions and chanting solidarity songs as they march.

But getting towards the popular Udensi roundabout, the protesting workers faced some resistance from the police, who made attempts to prevent them from moving further.
The union however refused to be cowed and moved on peacefully. Addressing the workers, the state chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress, Prof. Egwu Ogugua, and his Trade Union Congress counterpart, Chidi Igboji said there is no going back unless their demands are properly addressed
