The issue of insecurity across several parts of Nigeria, has reared its Ugly head again with no fewer than fifteen people killed in different attacks on five communities in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The attacks happened on Wednesday but details are just emerging and come barely a week after a similar attack in Ruwi community, also in Bokkos Local Government Area, where ten persons were shot dead and three others injured while observing a wake-keep ceremony in honour of the death of an elderly woman.

It’s been a week of no respite for the people of Bokkos Local Government Area of Palteau State with two deadly attacks by unknown gunmen in six days.

Survivors reported that the attackers, speaking the Fulani dialect, launched a brazen assault in broad daylight around noon in Mangor Tamiso, then moved to Daffo, Manguna (tagai), and invaded Hurti and Tadai,”

According to a statement from Bokkos Cultural Development Council (BCDC), Vanguard and signed by the chairman Farmasum Fuddang, the people of the local government area are under threat from terrorists who seek to seize their land and impose a caliphate

The group commended the efforts of the security agencies for their swift response to distress calls, which helped to minimize casualties recorded in the attacks.

Members of the communities have been encouraged to be vigilant, and employ means of complementing security agencies in warding off threats from attackers.

The attacks on communities in Bokkos local government area have been frequent, in the last few years, with members of the affected communities calling on the authorities to provide adequate security in the area.
