Nigeria’s House of Representatives has directed the National Boundary Commission to immediately determine land ownership within communities around the Ondo and Delta States Boundary.
Adopting a motion of urgent public importance by Donald Ojogo, the House asked relevant security agencies, especially the Army, Nigeria Navy and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to maintain Law and Order and restore normalcy in the affected area

Ojogo in his motion, expressed sadness and shock that in the last four weeks, there has been a chain of violence through unprovoked attacks on the Ilaje communities of Odun Ebighan, Eke and other adjoining communities, which has resulted in the burning of houses and injuries to countless of people.
According to him, the Ilaje and Itsekiri people do not only share common boundaries, but share commonly and uniquely similar challenges and opportunities presented by their peculiar terrain, adding that the peace they have enjoyed for centuries is invaluable and non-negotiable even as they must work together to preserve it for present and future generations.
The lawmaker noted that these shared circumstances and commonalities rather than being galvanized to foster cooperation and peaceful coexistence, are now being weaponized to sow seeds of discord and conflict over ownership of lands rich in natural GOD-given oil and gas resources.
He expressed regret that aggression has been visited upon the peace-loving people of Ilaje by alleged gun-weilding Itsekiri youths from Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The House mandated its Committees on Emergency and Disaster Management and NDDC to provide immediate succour to the displaced Ilaje indigenes of the affected communities who have suffered untold hardship in the last one month.
