The House of Representatives has asked the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission to rescind its decision to further increase electricity tarrif in July 2021.
The motion sponsored by lawmaker from Akwa Ibom State, Aniekan Umanah expressed concern over epileptic power supply despite the increase in tarrif at 5 different times since 2015 by NERC.
The lawmakers are further worried about government’s lack of concern towards the plight of Nigerians, insisting that this is not the right time for an increase in tariff as Nigerians are already facing hard times.
