A total of 1,100 soldiers from different military formations in the country are currently at the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC Orientation Camp in Nonwa-Gbam, Tai Local Government Area, Rivers State, South-South Nigeria for a three-week promotional course to the rank of Master Warrant Officer.
Chief of Army Staff COAS, Lieutenant-General Waidi Shaibu, while welcoming the officers to the 2026 promotion course, charged the men to be of good conduct.
The COAS represented by Major-General Adewale Adekeye, declared open the 2026 exercise by the Master Warrant Officers Promotion Board. He described the training and promotion as vital to the development of the officers.
The Army Chief cautioned participants against engaging in unwholesome practices, stressing that instructors and examiners will not tolerate any acts of indiscipline.
The promotional course will also allow the military command to ascertain the technical competence and leadership qualities of the prospective Master Warrant Officers.
The COAS assured that at the end of the programme, the public will experience an improved military-civil relationship from the officers.
