The International Air Transport Association, IATA and the International Airlines Technical Pool, IATP have formed a strategic alliance aimed at improving airlines’ access to critical aircraft components and enhancing maintenance efficiency amid continuing global aerospace supply chain constraints.
The partnership will integrate IATP’s extensive aircraft parts pooling network with IATA’s MRO SmartHub digital platform, providing airlines with greater visibility into available serviceable parts and enabling faster, more efficient material sourcing.
The collaboration will also strengthen industry cooperation on technical operations, safety and quality assurance through initiatives including the IATA Operational Safety Audit, IOSA and Safety Connect programme.
As part of the agreement, IATA will offer the core capabilities of its enhanced MRO SmartHub platform at no cost to eligible airlines through a dedicated data participation programme.
The platform delivers real-time intelligence on aircraft parts availability, inventory levels and supply chain performance, helping operators make faster and more informed maintenance decisions.
IATP’s global parts pooling network gives member airlines access to more than 6,600 aircraft components across 350 stations, line maintenance support at over 900 locations, and worldwide aircraft recovery services.
Both organisations say the partnership is expected to reduce maintenance related costs, improve fleet reliability, minimise operational disruptions and strengthen the aviation industry’s resilience against ongoing supply chain challenges.
