Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Umo Eno on Sunday joined passengers on the inaugural flight of Ibom Air From Uyo to Accra marking a new chapter for the state’s aviation and tourism sector.
That marked the first time a commercial international flight is originating from Victor Attah International AirPort in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state.
Governor Umo Eno on Sunday boarded the maiden commercial Ibom Air flight from Accra to Uyo, in a show of confidence in the airline and the state’s aviation infrastructure.
The Governor described the launch of the Uyo-Accra route as another milestone in Akwa Ibom’s tourism and economic development agenda.
Governor Eno outlined plans already underway to expand into more international markets as part of efforts to open the state for business, investment and leisure.
Managing Director of the airline, George Uriesi says the achievement marks a defining moment for Nigeria’s aviation industry and further positions Akwa Ibom as a strategic regional hub connecting Nigeria to West Africa.
The successful operation officially establishes Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo as a full international gateway.
