The global perception of Nigeria as one of the most corrupt countries in the world remains a major concern to anti-corruption agencies especially with Nigeria ranked 142 out of 182 countries in the Transparency International’s Perceptions Index.
The Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) is taking steps to change the narative by introducing intergrity management in the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), to ensure transparency and accountability.
Officials note that the essence of the Education Trust Fund (TETFund) is to serve as an intervention agency that rehabilitates, restores, and consolidates public tertiary education in Nigeria, thus expected to be of high standards in the management of resources.
The ICPC Chairman, Musa Aliyu called on beneficiary institutions to strengthen their procurement processes, improve documentation, and promote transparency and accountability in public resources.
The programme provided an opportunity for stakeholders to reinforce the importance of robust procurement practices and responsible financial management among TETFund beneficiary institutions.
The 2-Day workshop is designed to strengthen the capacity of senior management and other management officials of beneficiary institutions to identify, prevent and effectively manage corruption and intergrity risks associated with institutional governance, procurement, project implementation and financial management.
