Nigeria’s Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has commended operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team, FID-IRT, for the successful rescue of Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, who were abducted in Ibadan, Oyo State.
In a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, the victims were rescued during a coordinated operation carried out at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
Police authorities said Mrs. Adegoke, who is the younger sister of a former Minister of Power, and her twin sons were abducted at about 7:30 a.m. on June 3, 2026, while she was driving the children to school.
According to the statement, the rescue followed sustained intelligence gathering, surveillance, and tactical operations which enabled operatives to track the movement of the kidnappers, leading to a gun duel with the gang.
During the operation, two suspected kidnappers were neutralised, while two rifles were recovered from the suspects.
The Police confirmed that the victims were rescued unharmed and are currently receiving medical attention and psychological support.
The Inspector-General praised the courage, professionalism, and tactical efficiency of the operatives involved in the rescue mission.
The Force added that security operatives have intensified efforts to apprehend fleeing members of the kidnapping syndicate, assuring that all those involved would be tracked down and brought to justice.
IGP Disu also appreciated members of the public for their cooperation and support during the operation and urged anyone with useful information on the whereabouts of fleeing suspects to contact the nearest police station or the Force helplines.
The statement reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to combating violent crime and ensuring the protection of lives and property across the country.
