The Inspector–General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has presented cheques worth over N41.4 million to the families of deceased Police officers and those who sustained injuries while discharging their duties in the Nasarawa State command.
The Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Nadada presented the cheque on behalf of IGP Egbetokun in Lafia.
A statement issued by the State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ramhan Nansel said the gesture is an initiative of the Inspector-General of Police, Family Welfare Insurance and Group Life Assurance, aimed at improving the living conditions of families of officers who paid the supreme sacrifice and those who sustained serious injuries during their service.
While appreciating the Inspector-General of Police, the Commissioner of Police urged the beneficiaries to use the money judiciously to train the children left behind and invest in profitable ventures that will, in turn, put food on their table and alleviate their sufferings due to the loss or injuries of the officers.
