The House of Representatives Committee Chairperson on the Diaspora, Tolulope Akande-Sadipe, says lack of interagency relations has aided the illegal export of human organs in Nigeria.
The lawmaker made the allegation during the visit of the Committee to the Nigerian Immigration Service, NIS, facility at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport in Abuja.
Explaining that Nigeria is the hot bed for illegal export of human organs, accounting for countless and mysterious disappearances of people at home, the Chairperson of the Diaspora Committee also pointed out that the organs are seamlessly freighted from Nigeria’s airports without detection because of little or no inter-agencies collaboration.
Akande-Sadipe stressed that the level of human trafficking under different guise has reached an unprecedented level due to lack of synergy among relevant stakeholders leading to the violation of human rights.

She said the tales of woes are echoing from one country to another across the different continents of the world, and destination of stolen organs are most Saudi Arabia, Oman, Dubai and the Gulf of Bahrain.
Tolulope said the NIS occupies a strategic position in the war against human trafficking and organ harvesting because it is the gatekeeper of all entry and exit points of the nation.
