The wife of the Imo State Governor, Chioma Uzodimma, has commended the state government for its sustained investment in women’s empowerment and development across the 27 Local Government Areas of the state.
Speaking at the grand finale of the 2026 Imo Women August Meeting in Owerri, the governor’s wife said women in the state have continued to demonstrate strong support for the administration through their participation in its programmes and policies.
She noted that the government’s interventions in capacity building, skills acquisition and income-generating initiatives are designed to improve the economic well-being of women and enable them to become more self-reliant.
She also launched the Imo State Action Plan on United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security.
The action plan is aimed at strengthening the participation and leadership of women in promoting peace, security and sustainable development across the state.
Addressing the women, Governor Hope Uzodimma said the removal of the fuel subsidy by the Tinubu administration was already yielding positive results,he assured the women that the rising cost of living would soon ease as the reforms of the Federal Government continue to take effect.
With the launch of the Women, Peace and Security Action Plan and renewed emphasis on economic empowerment, the Imo State Government says it remains committed to creating greater opportunities for women to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of the state.
