Imo State Government has condemned in strong terms the killing of INEC Official by gunmen at Nkwo ihitte Amakaohia, ihitte uboma local government area of the state.
The commissioner for information Declan Emelumba said in owerri that government is miffed by the thoughtless brutality, and sympathized with the bereaved family of the slain official.
The 14th day of April 2022 will surely remain a day to remember in imo state following the invasion and killing of an INEC staff on official duty at a center where election matters were being conducted.
The incident threw the community and the entire state into confusion.
INEC has since suspended registration in all 54 additional centers created to facilitate the registration of voters across the state.
However, The state government through the commissioner for information Declan Emelumba condemned the incident calling on the perpetrators to shield their sword.
An Elder stateman, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu also criticized the Rate of insecurity in the country, calling on the Government to be proactive in the war against banditry.
Efforts to get the commissioner of Police and INEC to respond to the unfortunate incident proved abortive.
