Governor Hope Uzodimma has approved the introduction of Treasury Single Account, TSA, for operations of the Imo State University Teaching Hospital.
The Governor gave the approval while receiving the report of the Visitation Panel to the institution chaired by Professor Frank Akpuaka.
The new measure is to change the ugly narrative in the financial statements of the hospital and plug financial leakages that characterise its operations.
The Visitation Panel had listed the challenges besieging the hospital to include among others poor funding, infrastructural decay, and the withdrawal of accreditation for some of the courses at its medical school.
Uzodinma, who could not hide his feelings after listening to highlights of the Visitation Panel report, raised concerns over the poor state of the hospital.
He appreciated members of the panel for a job well done, assuring that the recommendations would be implemented to sanitise the health sector in the State.

The Teaching Hospital is supposed to be self-sustaining as well as provide effective healthcare services to the entire state and beyond. It has however been unable to achieve this mandate.
