INEC Issues Certificate Of Return To Winner Of Re-run Election in Shinkafi LGA

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has presented a Certificate Of Return to Usman Mustapha, the winner of the February 3rd Re-run State Assembly Election in five wards and nine polling units in the Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Northwest Nigeria.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor Ahmed Babura, who presented the Certificate Of Return, congratulated the winner, Usman Mustapha, and described the election as keenly contested by all the candidates.

Present at the Professor Mahmoud Yakubu Conference Hall, at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC’s) head office in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, includes the Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Bilyaminu Isma’il, the Political Adviser to the Governor, Yahaya Yari, the Secretary of the State’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abdullahi Zigina, and the Publicity Secretary of the Party, Abba Bello and INEC Staff, among others.

They were for the presentation of the Certificate Of Return to the winner of the February 3rd re-run election.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor Ahmed Babura, said the Court of Appeal had nullified the election in five Registration Areas and nine Polling Units and ordered INEC to conduct a re-run.

The Special Adviser to the Zamfara State Governor on Political Matters, Yahaya Yari, commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), for conducting a credible, fair and transparent re-run election, and urged the winner, Usman Mustapha, to give quality representation to the people of his constituency.

The candidate of the PDP, Usman Mustapha, scored 13,540 to defeat his closest opponent and candidate of the APC, Aliyu Mahmuda Shinkafi, who scored 13,508.
