INEC Officials Take Delivery Of Materials For Surulere Federal Constituency 1 Bye-Election

Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have taken delivery of the sensitive materials ahead of Saturday’s Surulere Federal Constituency 1 Bye Election to elect a representative at the lower chamber of the National Assembly.

The bye Election is sequel to the resignation of former Speaker of the House of Representatives from Surulere 1 Federal Constituency seat, Femi Gbajabiamila after assuming office as the incumbent Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner for Lagos State, Prof. Abayomi Salami accompanied by other INEC staff visited the Central Bank of Nigeria, Lagos where he received the sensitive materials from the CBN officials for safe keeping.

Twelve out of the initial fourteen political parties have have fielded candidates to contest for the vacant seat.

The REC used the occasion to assure the electorate that INEC is fully prepared for Saturday’s bye Election.

Surulere Federal Constituency 1, according to INEC consists of six Electoral wards with two hundred and fifty eight polling units.

The total number of registered voters stands at One hundred and forty thousand, three hundred and seventy seven, while only One hundred and twenty one thousand, one hundred and eleven voter cards were collected.
