The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has announced the resumption of the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration, CVR exercise for its third and final phase, urging eligible Nigerians to take advantage of the window to register or update their details ahead of future elections.

INEC made this known in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna, who says the exercise will recommence on 11th of May and run through 10th of July.

INEC explained that the second phase of the registration exercise was suspended in April to allow for the clean-up of the voters’ register following its publication for claims and objections by registrants.

The commission also advised already registered voters seeking to transfer their registration, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, or correct personal details to either visit INEC offices nationwide or access INEC’s online portal.

In continuation of the process, INEC says the updated register will be displayed for public scrutiny between July 23 and July 29, in line with statutory requirements aimed at ensuring transparency and credibility.

The Commission assured Nigerians that adequate arrangements have been put in place for a smooth exercise across the country, stressing the importance of public participation in strengthening Nigeria’s electoral process.

The Commission further calls on Nigerians to actively engage in the exercise, noting that voter registration remains a critical step in deepening democracy and ensuring inclusive participation in governance.
