The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Joash Amupitan, has assured residents of Osun State that the Electoral body is fully prepared for the conduct of credible, free and fair governorship election on 15th August 2026
He gave the assurance during a courtesy visit to the palace of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, where he also met with other traditional rulers from across the state.
Prof Amupitan appealled for support from the traditional rulers in Osun State to ensure a peaceful, credible and violence free governorship election in the State .
He urged the traditional rulers to use their influence as custodian of culture and tradition to encourage political parties and their supporters to conduct themselves in peaceful manner and shun violence before, during and after the election.

He urged INEC to remain impartial and uphold the principles of fairness and justice in the conduct of the election.
The INEC Chairman was in Osun state as part of the commission’s advocacy and stakeholders engagement ahead of the August 15 Governship election.
