Suspected bandits have set ablaze the Magarya Community in Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State,

The residence of the Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Nasiru Muazu, was among the houses razed.

The Chairman of the Committee on Security and Prosecution of Bandits in Zamfara State, Abdullahi Shinkafi, confirmed the development and said, the invasion of the Magarya community was a result of the security operatives current offensive against the bandits in the various camps.

The military and other security agencies’ onslaught against the bandits in Zamfara State is provoking retaliation by the bandits.

This is evident in the bandits setting ablaze Magarya community in Zurmi Local Government Area of the state.

Zurmi Local Government Area is the home area of the Speaker of the Zamfara State House Assembly.

The Chairman of the Committee On Security And Prosecution Of Bandits in Zamfara State, Abdullahi Shinkafi visited the affected community, to conduct on -the-spot assessment of the security situation, to provide support for victims, and deploy more security operatives to protect the people.

Shinkafi, went around the community to assess the damages caused by the bandits, which he said are suffering from the superior firepower of the security operatives onslaught against them in the area.

He, however, did not disclose whether lives were lost during the invasion and the burning down of the Magarya community by the bandits, who are currently on the run of the military airstrike and land onslaught.

The Committee Chairman disclosed that they have arrested two suppliers of foodstuff, petrol and other essential commodities, who use boats to convey the products from Sokoto through Issa Local Council to the bandits in Shinkafi Local Government Area in Zamfara State.

The two foodstuffs and petrol suppliers have been handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.

It would be recalled that the biological father and stepmother of the Speaker of the State Assembly and six others were abducted a few months ago and are still in captivity.
