In a bid to address crimes and criminality in Bauchi State, North-East Nigeria, Governor Bala Mohammed has said arrangements have reached advanced stage to employ over 10,000 youths to fight banditry and abduction across the state.
Governor Mohammed made this known when he received hundreds of vigilante groups at the Bauchi State Government House.
The leaders and members of the various vigilante groups who came out in their numbers moved round major streets of Bauchi metropolis for what they described as “Operation Show of Force” against banditry and abductions.
Led by the State Commandant, Umar Shayi they paid a visit to Governor Bala Mohammed at the Government House to appreciate the gesture always being extended to vigilante groups and other security agents to enable them discharge their duties effectively.
Receiving the Vigilante Groups, Governor Mohammed was visibly overwhelmed by the impact being make by the security volunteers in fighting insecurity and other heinous activities across the state.
He said his administration is taking measures to ensure that there is no hiding place for miscreants across the 20 local government areas of the state through deepening stakeholding and rules of engagements.
Governor Mohammed used the occasion to sent a strong warning to bad elements in the society who engage in giving privilege information to aid terrorists in carrying out their dastardly acts.
Among the local security operatives were political and traditional leaders as Governor Bala Mohammed supported them with cash amount of over N100 million to enable them discharge their duties effectively.
