Nigeria’s House of Representatives has faulted the decision of the National Examination Council (NECO) to bring about 1500 staff from across the country to the council’s headquarters in Minna for their promotional exam.
This followed the Adoption of a motion of urgent public importance calling on the board to consider suspending the decision.
The lawmakers say the management should conduct the promotion examination at its zonal offices across the country given the security and economic situation of the country.
According to the lawmakers, the board had conducted the promotion examination for her staff at various zonal/regional offices without making a large number of staff from different States of the country travel and converge on one place for the promotion exercise.

He noted that as a body which conducts examinations for candidates all over the country, the council should conduct promotion examinations for its staff in different States of the Federation.
In a circular dated 17th January 2024, the board of NECO published names of about one thousand five hundred (1,500) staff to partake in the said 2024 Promotion Examination on 14th & 15th February 2024 at the Federal University of Technology, (FUT), Minna, Niger State.
