Young people in Enugu State, South East Nigeria, are taking their message against terrorism and violent crimes to the streets.
Students, Corps members, security personnel, and youth groups marched through parts of Enugu metropolis on Friday, taking a stand against terrorism and supporting efforts to make the state safer.
With banners and placards in their hands, and with just one message, the young people are calling on their fellow youths to unite against terrorism, all forms of violence and crime.
The march took them through major roads and streets of the Coal City before ending at the Lion Building, the Enugu State seat of power, where they were received by Governor Peter Mbah.
Governor Mbah described the action as the way to go, saying if more citizens join the fight against insecurity, the State could see a sharp decline in crime — and free up resources now being spent on fighting crime.
The governor urged the youths to walk their talk, sustain the tempo, and have faith in the government to do its bit.
For the young people, the march is a statement that the fight for a safer Enugu can not be left to security agencies alone.
