The Rivers State Government has appointed a new Chairman for the State Council of Traditional Rulers.

Governor Sim Fubara, who on Friday met with government recognised traditional rulers, announced the Paramount Ruler of Apara kingdom in Obio-Akpor local government area, Chike Worlu-Wodo as the new Chairman.

He replaces the paramount ruler of Emohua, Chidi Awuse, whose time in office was said to have been marked by divisions and poor leadership.

It was Fubara’s second meeting with the recognised traditional rulers since he assumed office as Governor. This time he voiced his discontent with the growing divisions among the monarchs as well as the noticeable lack of leadership in the group. He also drew their attention to the insult of his Deputy.

He wants the new Chairman of the Council to commence the process of reconciliation and support the effort to build a united, peaceful, and prosperous Rivers State.

For his part, Chike Worlu Wodo says he would navigate the Council of Traditional Rulers away from the mistakes of the last one year

He also assures Governor Fubara that the Council will vigorously play its role in the quest to build a united, peaceful, and prosperous Rivers State.
