Two suspects have been arrested in Nigeria in separate cybercrime investigations under the INTERPOL-coordinated Operation Serengeti III.

According to an INTERPOL statement cited by AIT.Live, one suspect was arrested over an alleged phishing and business email compromise operation that harvested software credentials and amassed about 2.1 million email addresses.

Investigators also recovered a luxury vehicle suspected to have been bought with criminal proceeds by the suspect.

The second suspect was arrested in connection with an international investment fraud scheme promoted through messaging applications.

Financial investigations traced the movement of more than $2.4 million in suspected criminal proceeds linked to the scheme, much of it was allegedly laundered through cryptocurrency transactions.

The identities of the two suspects were not disclosed.

Operation Serengeti III ran from June 29 to August 31, 2026, targeting cyber-enabled fraud, ransomware, business email compromise, online scams and digital extortion.

Across the 21 participating countries, authorities arrested 1,462 suspects, disrupted 10,909 malicious networks and recovered more than $105 million in illicit funds.

Investigators identified 65,929 victims and linked the criminal activities to losses exceeding $385 million.

Private-sector partners supported the operation with intelligence, technical analysis and expertise to identify suspects, map criminal networks and trace illicit funds.

INTERPOL’s Director of Cybercrime, Neal Jetton, said international cooperation remained vital to disrupting cybercriminal networks, recovering assets and protecting communities.

Several investigations remain active, with authorities pursuing additional suspects, tracing funds and examining seized digital evidence.
